Having your best friend at your wedding is a must for any bride. So when we heard that Katy Perry's best friend Rihanna didn't attend the her wedding in India, we began to wonder if anything had happened between the pair.

However, our minds were put to rest when Rihanna revealed that the reason she couldn't attend the wedding was because she was caught up in promoting her new album....or were they?

According to reports, The real reason RiRi didn't go to India was because of the man Katy was marrying because she believed that Russell Brand isn't good enough for Katy. An opinion that has left the girls "barely talking" to each other.

A source revealed to Now: "Rihanna told Katy she didn't think she should go through with it. She said she couldn't be a part of Katy's wedding since she absolutely doesn't approve."Rihanna and Russell are very rarely photogrpahed together because she doesn't think he's good enough for Katy. She just doesn't get the attraction."

Rihanna disapproves so much of Russell that she even reportedly tried to talk Katy out of marrying Russell on her hen night!

The source continued: "She was trying to go along with things even though she thinks Russell is bad news, but she reached breaking point when Katy and Russell had a fight just before the hen do."

"Rihanna told Katy how she felt. She's watched her get upset, she's witnessed the effects of 
the pair's arguments and seen Katy cancel the wedding twice."

Rihanna set to kick off AMAs broadcast

Recording star Rihanna has been booked to open the 2010 American Music Awards show in Los Angeles, organizers said Friday.

The announcement was made by Orly Adelson, president of dick clark productions.

This will mark Rihanna's fourth time performing on the AMAs. She joins a lineup of previously announced acts including Diddy-Dirty Money, Ne-Yo, Bon Jovi, P!nk, Christina Aguilera, Justin Bieber, Katy Perry, Ke$ha and Usher.

Rihanna is nominated for an AMA in the Soul/Rhythm & Blues category for Favorite Female Artist.

The prize presentation is to be broadcast live from the NOKIA Theatre L.A. LIVE Nov. 21 on ABC. "We could not be more excited to officially announce one of pop music's biggest stars to open the celebration at the AMAs. Be sure to tune in so you don't miss this surely memorable moment," AMA producer Larry Klein said in a statement.

Kanye West Brings Rihanna and Fergie to see 'All of the Lights'

There is yet another leak from Kanye West's studios, this time it's "All of the Lights." Does the name sound familiar? We already heard one version of this song featuring Drake, but by the sounds of it, Kanye went back to the studio to team up with the best of the best in the music biz. The new version of "All of the Lights" features Rihanna, Fergie from the Black Eyed Peas, Kid Cudi, The-Dream, Elton John, Alicia Keys, and John Legend! Looks like Drake got the boot after the song initially leaked.

Kanye recently tweeted, "Please go pre order Kid Cudi's album. He is my favorite living artist and not just cause he's on my label," making Cudi's appearance on this tune expected. Rihanna and Fergie are top artists on the music scene and they definitely add star quality to the track. Elton John is the most surprising feature on this song. We are all patiently waiting for Kanye's album My Beautiful Dark Twisted Fantasy which is slated for release on November 22. The latest drama surrounding Kanye's release was about his album cover. While talking to MTV about the artwork for his single "Runaway" Kanye said, "I wanted a phoenix, and that's what he came up with. And what I love about it is, both me and George express ourselves with our truest vision, not based on what society or culture feels is right, but what's truly in our heart."

Fashion Faceoff

Rihanna and Lady GaGa have red hot careers, but they also have signature styles that have turned them into fashion icons. Both stars were in London this week; GaGa was honored at the Billboard Touring Awards while Rihanna hosted a Christmas tree lighting celebration.
So who brought their best style with them? GaGa's outfits have been kind of lackluster lately, but her new blonde bob looks great on her. It's definitely an improvement on the drab, gray color she experimented with last week. She also brought back her super high platforms, and she didn't fall on her face at all this time! The shoes and sunglasses she wore with her purple dress looked fabulous, even if it looks like she's wearing a sack with two holes cut in it.Rihanna looked absolutely stunning, as usual, but parts of her outfit looked a little suspect, as usual. The bow looks cute with her red hair, but the skirt looks a little awkward when paired with that gray and black busier. Even so, Rihanna wears bright neon colors better than anyone, and with the stage lights beaming down on her she actually glows a little. Of course having gold on your wrist and chest doesn't hurt either. Amazing!

Loud is a swift return to the kind of sunny, upbeat pop bangers that preceded the Barbados-born singer’s brush with domestic violence and the resulting dark melodrama of her last album Rated-R. In some ways, this is Rihanna’s most versatile set of songs, spanning lilting reggae grooves that reflect her Caribbean roots to the kind of AOR country ballads that Taylor Swift would sing.

Amid the shape shifting, Rihanna does an impressive job of stamping her own sassy, tomboyish personality on sometimes generic material, but it’s the collaboration with new girl on the block Nicki Minaj that seems to bring out her competitive best.

Rihanna Remembers Late Cancer Patient, Shannon Tavarez

Shannon Tavarez, the 11-year-old Broadway actress who starred in the hit musical "The Lion King," died Monday after a long battle with acute myeloid leukemia. Known for visiting and helping other cancer patients, Rihanna took to her Twitter to send condolences to the family of the young star.

"Just got off of a plane ride and got horrible news that our little star Shannon [Tavarez] has lost her battle against leukemia! Way too soon ... keep her family in your prayers," Rihanna tweeted on Tuesday.

Diagnosed with leukemia in April, Tavarez had difficulty finding a bone marrow match because of her mixed ethnicities (African-American and Hispanic). Rihanna and Alicia Keys attempted to raise awareness for the performer by encouraging fans to register as donors.

"[Tavarez] should be performing on Broadway, but is confined to her bed, fighting for her life," the singer told People in July. "She needs to find a bone marrow donor to survive. I urge all my fans to register [as donors]. It's the most beautiful thing someone could do, to give the gift of life."

Despite their efforts, doctors were unable to locate a suitable bone marrow donor. In August, they took a different approach as the performer underwent an umbilical-cord blood transplant at Cohen Children's Medical Center in New York. Tavarez's mother, Odiney Brown, appreciated the support and condolences in a statement, saying, "Shannon's strength and her happy, positive spirit will live on in our hearts and minds each day.

Shannon's dream was to perform onstage, and that she did. It is our hope that Shannon's legacy will continue to inspire other brave children battling leukemia. We are grateful for the outpouring of love and prayers."

In addition to the R&B singers, 50 Cent and Tony Yayo also joined the cause, filming a PSA for the "Get Swabbed to Save a Life" project.

Earlier this year, another cancer patient, Jasmina Anema, to whom Rihanna had remained close, also lost her fight against leukemia.

Rihanna scores third Irish number one

Rihanna has climbed to the top of the Irish single's chart this week.

The singer scores her third number one track with 'Only Girl (In The World)' following her well-received performance on last weekend's X Factor. She is predicted to repeat the chart success in the UK this week.

Rihanna knocks last week's number one from Cheryl Cole down to second place. There is no change from numbers three to seven as tracks from Bruno Mars, Katy Perry, Duck Sauce, Cee Lo Green and Mike Posner retain their respective positions.

The top ten sees one new entry from Shakespears Sister as 'Stay' returns to the chart 18 years after it topped the chart, thanks to Cher Lloyd's highly-praised performance on The X Factor.
The Saturdays miss out on a top 10 placing as their latest single 'Higher' rises 12 spots to number 11 on its official release week.

Meanwhile, Girls Aloud star Nadine Coyle faces disappointment as her debut solo single 'Insatiable' enters at number 20.
